My Rockin’ Day with Billy Corgan by Amy Kettenburg, DLF.TV Producer

I can’t even begin to describe how surreal it was for me to have the opportunity to work on this piece for DLF.TV.

Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins played such a huge role in my adolescence. I was one of those die hard fans that slept out on concrete for tickets with my best friend in high school. I have every piece of music they have ever released (and that’s not even getting into bootlegs).

I owe a huge thanks to Billy and Director Justin Coloma for sharing so much with me. Billy was so open, relaxed, and fun — he shot hoops, we ate vegan thai lunch together. And then he invited me into his studio to watch his creative process in action.

In this video, find out how “Eye” came to be on David’s Lost Highway soundtrack and get the exclusive first look into what went on during the recent drummer auditions where Billy meets current drummer, Mike Byrne for the very first time. Also, listen as Billy works on new songs for his upcoming album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. How awesome! I hope you all enjoy watching this piece as much as I enjoyed making it!

And just for those of you who may have been living under a rock for the past two decades, The Smashing Pumpkins, led by frontman Billy Corgan, formed in Chicago in 1988 and became one of the most critically acclaimed and highly influential rock bands of the 1990s, shaping the face of alternative music. Over the years, many of their albums have gone platinum in the United States and debuted at the top of the Billboard charts. The band also received 7 Grammy Award nominations including Album of the Year for their 1995 double album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
